Finding an affordable home to live in can be difficult, and finding an affordable home for someone with a disability or modifying your house for someone with a disability can be even harder and more financially straining.  However, there are a few resources that can aid in your search for a place to live, along with programs and services that can make your home accessible and easier to live in.  We have listed a few of these resources below:

To start, contact your local U.S. Department of Housing & Urban Development (HUD) Office. You can search for one near your home on their site.  HUD can provide you with more information on affordable housing and can assist you in finding affordable housing programs in your state such as Section 811 Supportive Housing for Persons with Disabilities

HUD also provides access to a number of resources, programs, and information to help you with finding housing, renting, and paying for housing depending on your financial situation:
Eldercare is another resource that can help with modifying your own home so that it is easier and more comfortable to live in for someone with a disability.  This site also offers assistance on how to pay for these changes to your home and well as access to senior care, jobs, and more.

Volunteers of America is another site that can help find low-income housing programs in your area and well as caregiving.  Simply input your location to see what options are available near you.

Disability.gov is a site that can help you in your search for disability housing.  They offer access to a number of programs and resources, and can guide you on how to receive financial assistance, where to find housing, and more.

We understand that finding and paying for disability housing can be difficult process.  The resources above can help in your search for a home or better living conditions and may alleviate your financial burden.
