When you’re homeless, getting the bare essentials may seem impossible. It can feel as though you are forgotten or that no one cares about you. But there are people and organizations all across the nation that have made it their mission to help you. Here’s These directories will show you where to find them.
 
As you know, finding a safe place to go is top priority. Not only will shelters put a roof over your head, but most offer food and assistance with employment, clothes/shoes, and healthcare. Some will even provide transportation services to doctors appointments or interviews.
 
Food may be an even higher priority than shelter. This food pantry directory also lists soup kitchens and food banks so that you can have something to eat even if you don’t have any money. 

Being homeless leaves you vulnerable to illness while having very little access to healthcare. The National Health Care for the Homeless Council awards grants to program that provide healthcare to the homeless. Check their directory for a program near you.
 
If you’re a veteran, you can get help with housing, employment and more from the U.S Department of Veterans Affairs. Their website provides links to service information as well as a phone number to call for assistance.
 
No matter the reason for your homelessness, there is help. Things may seem hard sometimes and you might question whether or not you can go on. You can! Remind yourself of this as often as possible.
